I cannot believe I have not reviewed Marlo yet! Marlo is a very talented, dependable, casual, and down-to-earth photographer whom you would want for your next cosplay shoot (and beyond)! 

I have received Marlo's services 20+ times because of their work as well as how easy it is to work with them. I have worked with them for both at-con and out-of-con shoots, including a shoot at a professional studio.

Marlo was my photographer for my very first cosplay shoot when I was very nervous and did not know what to expect. Marlo made me smile, provided guidance on how I should pose, and made me feel very at ease. The feeling at ease part is crucial during the shoot. You have to feel fully secure and comfortable with your photographer, because if you are not, you can immediately see that in the photos. (I had one bad experience with a different photographer with whom I did not feel at ease, and as a result, I looked rigid and nervous in the photos, even though the photographer was highly talented.)

If you are a cosplayer looking for a photographer, especially if this is your first time hiring one and nervous about it, look no further! I only had good experiences with Marlo, more than 20 times! Highly recommended! (2025)

Marlo is an absolute joy to work with and I highly encourage anyone who has the opportunity to do so, to take it. Not only is Marlo really good at post-production, with editing and quick turnaround times, Marlo also gives fantastic direction during shoots! Marlo knows how to make clients look and feel amazing, calling out the slightest tweaks to head or hand position, demonstrating some more complicated pose ideas, and even directing gaze to get the most flattering images possible.

Marlo made my first experience working with a photographer in a shoot so easy that it felt more like I was hanging out with a friend. Between keeping an open mind to my ideas and adding their own, I walked away with more photos that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE than I imagined. Marlo is also flexible and understanding because originally I was going to do a shoot with a friend, but unexpected events happened where it ended up being only myself, which Marlo just rolled with the change of plans like a PRO! I can truly highlight just how amazing Marlo is!! 💕 When I went to Anime Central I got the opportunity to shoot with them for the very first time while wearing my Malenia cosplay from Elden Ring, and Marlo made the whole thing a lot of fun. When we started taking the photos I wasn't really as confident or at ease in portraying Malenia as I typically am when doing my other cosplays. This was the first time I'd worn the costume, so I was still working on how I wanted to pose and bring the character to life, and I certainly needed some assistance in overcoming my hesitation.  Marlo at once altered that atmosphere; they always boosted my confidence, helped me with my poses, gave me instructions, and made me feel as though I was really killing it. I never had any moments when I felt uncomfortable or as though I suddenly had to know what to do in front of the camera. Marlo made everything seem comfortable, natural, and truly enjoyable. 

Then I received the photographs back... I AM OBSESSED. 😭❤️ The cosplay which I was feeling the least confident about when I went in for the shoot ended up producing some of my very favorite cosplay photographs ever taken; I really did feel like Malenia, Blade of Miquella, and having myself captured that way gave me a completely new appreciation for cosplay. It is 100% due to the environment that Marlo set up during our shooting. If you have a photographer who doesn't just know how to take photos of your cosplay well but also knows how to boost your spirits and help you gain confidence, the difference is enormous. 

If you're getting into cosplaying—particularly if it's your first time trying out a new cosplay or if you're nervous when appearing before the camera—then I can't recommend Marlo enough. 💕 Marlo is absolutely delightful to work with and I would be happy to get in front of her camera once more. Marlo is my go-to for anything dreamy or fantasy-related! I've worked with them for 15 different concepts, and have always enjoyed the process and the results. They are very organized, a great communicator, and someone that just naturally brings good energy to the table.

I also like that it's not always "just business" with them. Marlo is very welcoming and creates a comfortable experience throughout the entire duration of the shoot. A couple of jokes here and there, soft direction when posing, extreme knowledge of the location and background areas, and plenty of compliments when something looks good. A lot of photographers will just click-click and move on, but I like that Marlo paces with you -- and I feel like it really shows in their work. Everything looks candid but still purposeful, never staged. And when you get the final edits, they're definitely one of the things you look back on and say, "wow, I really did that."

Excellent communication from start to finish, knowledgeable about posing, lighting, locations, and all of the professional photographer things- but is also knowledgeable about many different source materials AND cosplay specifically. Photoshoots with Marlo are always fun, professional, and engaging, and of course well worth it! Every session I've had with them, I felt comfortable and hyped up- which is so important when finding a good photographer! 

They are very respectful of things like boundaries and pronouns, and will work with you on whatever you're comfortable with / wanting to try. They are very experienced, and the raw photos alone are incredible- but their editing skills are also impressive and never disappoint.

Marlo did a great job of shooting a large Sailor Moon swimsuit group at ColossalCon in 2022! We received great group photos and each person got a good amount of individual time for solo photos despite the amount of people in the shoot.
